Adventures in ecology and global change

Vincent Gauci is an ecosystem scientist and biogeochemist.

I make discoveries on how carbon-rich ecosystems such as forests, wetlands and peatlands function and interact with the atmosphere. I have expertise in quantifying the exchange of powerful greenhouse gases from these ecosystems and agroecosystems in response to global environmental change and I have worked and led projects across the Andes, Amazon, Borneo and Sumatra as well as many other locations. In 2019, I was delighted to join the research intensive University of Birmingham, Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR) as Professorial Fellow, while maintaining my visiting Chair in Global Change Ecology at the Open University.
